We are delighted to inform you that the Texas A&M University INFORMS Student chapter has won three national awards last year:
Magna Cum Laude Award: The student chapter has won the prestigious Magna Cum Laude award. The purpose of these awards is to recognize the achievements of student chapters. We appreciate the hard work of our student officers, volunteers and faculty and staff members. Hearty congratulations to all our members.
Moving Spirit Award: Dr. Cetinkaya, who was the chapter faculty advisor from , has been selected by the Chapters/Fora Committee to receive the Moving Spirit Award. This is a national award and the purpose of this award is to recognize volunteers who have made outstanding and sustained contributions to their chapters. Hearty congratulations to Dr. Cetinkaya.
Judith Liebman Award: Anurag Verma, who was the chapter president during the year 2010, has been selected by the Chapters/Fora Committee to receive the Judith Liebman Award. The purpose of this award is to recognize volunteers who have made outstanding and sustained contributions to their student chapters. Hearty congratulations to Anurag.
Congratulations to the INFORMS team for wining the Texas A&M University Organization of the Year award!
The Texas A&M University Student Chapter of INFORMS was awarded the Organization of the Year (2010) award, among more than 700 organizations all over the Texas A&M University. The award seeks to recognize the group that has significantly contributed to Texas A&M through their operations, programs and services. The Texas A&M Student Chapter of INFORMS has 134 members and has exemplified its mission of encouraging interest in the field of OR/MS by organizing excellent academic and social events every week during the Fall and Spring semesters. Development workshops, student, practitioner, and faculty seminars, field trips and the weekly coffee and cookie hour are some of their highlight events. These events and activities bring value to the Chapter by facilitating development of student communication and presentation skills, and helping students learn and develop assets leading to better performance in courses, internships and jobs. Further, these events have facilitated developmental opportunities for organizational leaders and members and brought positive public recognition to Texas A&M University.
