Student Chapter Awards 2005

 
Every year, the Student Chapter of the INFORMS at Texas A&M acknowledges the dedication and outstanding performance of faculty members and students whose research is related to or promote the application of Operations Research (OR) and the Management Sciences (MS). Also, acknowledges the people who directly or indirectly support the activities of the Student Chapter, including Department Staff, current Officers and former Officers.

The appreciation awards are given based on the following criterion:

 

1. Appreciation Award to the Faculty.

  • Brought new research areas to the Department.
  • Offered new graduate courses.
  • Helped to improve Industrial Engineering Program.
  • Helped Student Chapter with its objectives.
  • Active participation with the INFORMS-National.

 

The award was first given in the Department's Annual Banquet to:

 

 Dr. Sila Cetinkaya – Appreciation Award.

¨ª      Professor Cetinkaya has been considered for nomination because she had a brilliant trajectory as a faculty member.

¨ª      She has been very active in her research interest areas, and also developing several research projects with the Industry.

 

 

 Dr. J. Eric Bickel – Appreciation Award.

¨ª      Professor Bickel is being considered for nomination because he taught new courses, and participates in the Area of Systems which is the new element of the Department transition from IE to ISEN.

¨ª      He offered support and advice for the Student Chapter to contact speakers from the Industry including himself.

 

 

 

2. Appreciation Award to Current Officers.

  • Showed leadership and motivation for all the officers and members.
  • Brought a significant development for the Student Chapter accordingly with the mission and purpose.
  • Established/improved organizational structure.
  • Dedication and excellent performance accomplishing responsibilities.

 

The award was first given in the Farewell Event to the current officers during the Spring semester of 2006:

 

 Diego Puente – Current Officer Appreciation Award.

 Ezgi Can Eren – Former Officer Appreciation Award.

4. Appreciation Award to Department Staff.

  • Supported the Student Chapter activities by means of communication, information, facilities and equipment.

 Judy Meeks – Department Staff Appreciation Award.
